The TESU programs are designed for RNs who hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
Rowan University offers an online MSN program with two NP specializations: Adult Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP) and Family (FNP). The Rowan program requires applicants to hold a BSN degree and an active and unencumbered RN license. Seton Hall University has two types of online MSN programs: an MSN in Health Systems Administration program; and an Adult Gerontology NP (AGNP) program. Seton Hall requires applicants to hold a BSN degree in addition to an active RN license. And Farleigh Dickinson University has an online MSN program with an FNP specialization and an online MSN in Nursing Education program.
For RNs in New Jersey who are interested in exploring out-of-state options for earning an MSN degree online, there are numerous options. Sacred Heart University in Connecticut has an MSN program that offers four specializations online: Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL); Nursing Management & Executive Leadership; Nursing Education; and FNP. Regis College in Massachusetts offers online MSN programs with the following specializations: Pediatric NP (PNP); FNP; Psychiatric Mental Health NP (PMHNP); Women’s Health NP (WHNP); and AGNP. And Simmons University, which is also in Massachusetts, offers an online MSN in FNP program.
Note: RNs who are considering online MSN programs offered by out-of-state schools should be aware that most programs require students to complete a certain number of in-person clinical hours at an approved site. Prior to applying to an online MSN program, it is advisable to contact the program about potential clinical sites to ensure that a convenient location can be found. In addition, nursing licensure requirements vary by state. RNs who are considering an online MSN degree through an out-of-state school and who intend to apply for specialized certification upon completion of the program should research the requirements for that certification in New Jersey to ensure that the program meets those requirements.
